Sugarcreek Township Water Study

Greene County Sanitary Engineer

Xenia, Ohio

This study was generated by the concerns related by the local residents to the Greene County Sanitary Engineer.  All of the residences involved were on individual wells.  Some homes were having trouble with water volume and pressure.  The study was performed to determine the impact of the problems and the estimated construction cost and individual assessments.  The only way the County would build this project is if the residents would petition for water and agree to a predetermined assessment.  The project is not located near any viable source of water so the cost of a transmission line alone was cost prohibitive.  The County agreed to pay for this cost if the residences would pay for the local service lines.  Since the individual lots were so large, the tentative assessments amounted to approximately $20,000 per property owner.  There were not enough people in favor of the project to make it viable so it was set aside until further development and need could warrant the cost.
